Parish Year of the National Eucharistic Revival

June 2023 – Pentecost 2024

The bishops of the United States have called for a three-year grassroots revival of devotion and belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The revival launched nationally on the feast of the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) June 19, 2022 will continue through the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis July 17-21, 2024 and Pentecost 2025.

National Eucharistic Pilgrimage
and
10th National Eucharistic Congress

The National Eucharistic Pilgrimage and 10th National Eucharistic Congress were the culmination of the three-year National Eucharistic Revival, launching the Year of Mission.

Each of the four routes of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage began on Pentecost weekend and arrived in Indianapolis on July 16. The western St. Junipero Serra Route began in San Francisco on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 2024. The Perpetual Pilgrims journeyed more than 2,200 miles through mountains, across lakes and rivers, and through the Great Plains. The final Mass of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage took place at St. John the Evangelist Church in Indianapolis, IN. Read more here

San Francisco seminarians Dereck Delgado and Jimmy Velasco were chosen as Perpetual Pilgrims for the St. Junipero Serra Route. Catholic San Francisco spoke with them in an exclusive interview along with their fellow Perpetual Pilgrim Charles East to learn more about their experience on the pilgrimage.

Part I        Part II

From July 17-21, more than 50,000 Catholics gathered in Indianapolis for the National Eucharistic Congress, coming together in unity to worship our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament and to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Eucharist. The five-day event was filled with liturgies, Eucharistic Adoration, as well as talks on the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and how to live Eucharistic lives.

National Eucharistic Revival Pilgrimage Schedule

Saturday, May 18, 2024
SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2024 – SCHEDULE HAS CHANGED!
Monday, May 20, 2024

The culmination of the three-year National Eucharistic Revival will be a National Eucharistic Congress in July of 2024 in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Congress “will be an experience of prayer: a liturgical act offering the Catholic Church—those in attendance in Indianapolis as well as across the country—to the Father, through the Son, and in the Holy Spirit.”

Leading up to the National Congress, there will be a National Eucharistic Pilgrimage beginning from four points in the United States: Archdiocese of San Francisco, California; Diocese of Brownsville, Texas; Diocese of Crookston, Minnesota; and the Archdiocese of Hartford, Connecticut.

Each route of the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will begin on Pentecost weekend (May 18-19, 2024) and arrive in Indianapolis on July 16. Sundays will include major Eucharistic processions and minor processions will take place during the week as pilgrims walk 10-15 miles a day from parish. Stops will be made at Catholic universities. Pilgrims can engage in service projects on Saturdays. Parish events along the way include 40- hour devotions, holy hours, pilgrim testimonies and lectures on the Real Presence.

Quotes about the Eucharist

“The cross shows how much Jesus loved you then – the Eucharist shows you how much he loves you right NOW.”

Mother Theresa

“Jesus has pulled back the veil and said, this really is me.”

—  Fr. Michael Schmitz

“Eucharistic miracles occur every day across the world when the substance of bread and wine is transformed into the substance of Jesus’s body and blood.”

—  Fr. Robert Spitzer, S.J.

“Very truly I tell you unless you eat the flesh of the son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life and I will raise them up on the last day.”

Jesus Christ, John 6:53-57

Prayer for the Eucharistic Revival

My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I beg pardon for those who do not believe, nor adore, nor hope, nor love You. Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. And, through the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and  the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of sinners.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
