To the Ends of the Earth: Final Day of the National Eucharistic Congress
The theme of Sunday’s Revival Session and final Mass was: “Go!” Go to the ends of the Earth to be witnesses to Christ and share the Gospel.
The morning started with talks by Chris Stefanick and Mother Adela Galindo, foundress of the order of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Mother Adela spoke on how our Lady is a model for us on how to be open to God’s Word, becoming living tabernacles of Christ’s love.
“Her heart was a heart that was totally open to God’s Word. And to allowed that Word to be enfleshed by her faithful obedience in her womb and in her heart,” said Mother Adela. “Our Lady was a woman of the Word in such a profound way that in her heart, the Word found a perfect home. The faith that our Lady manifested contemplating Jesus in the tabernacle of her immaculate womb, prepared her for the moment she would have to love and contemplate Jesus her son in the Eucharist.”
Cardinal Tagle, papal delegate to the National Eucharistic Congress, was the principle celebrant for the final Mass. In his homily he said that before he left Rome, he had asked Pope Francis if he had a message for the Church in the United States. The Holy Father replied, “Conversion to the Eucharist.”
The Cardinal went on to speak on Eucharistic Conversation and Missionary Conversion, telling those present that they must leave the church and go out to be missionaries to the world.
Bishop Cozzens spoke at the end of Mass thanking those who worked so hard to organize the conference, announcing a pilgrimage from Indianapolis to Los Angeles in 2025 to end with Corpus Christi Mass with Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez.
