Youth Ministry

The Archdiocese of San Francisco supports youth ministry programs that foster the catechesis, moral, and spiritual formation of young people in Middle School through High School.

Our Goals

Guided by the USCCB’s document, Renewing the Vision (1997), our ministry has three goals:

To empower young people (ages 13-17) to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;

To draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community;

To foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

To accomplish these goals, we offer training, community, workshops, resources, retreats, and collaboration opportunities for Youth Ministry Leaders within the Archdiocese, as well as training, retreats, catechetical events, leadership opportunities for youth themselves.

Genuine love is demanding. But its beauty lies precisely in the demands it makes. Only those able to make demands on themselves in the name of love can then demand love from others.

The Mother-Daughter Programs

9:00am – 5:00pm
Cost: $20

Online registration for 2024 is now closed.

There will be a few limited spaces Saturday                          – please come early and bring a check

St Bartholomew Parish, San Mateo

The Mother-Daughter Programs are designed to help you and your daughter explore God’s special gift of human fertility together. Help her see the beauty and wonder of God’s plan for growing up as a young girl or teenager and becoming a woman.

There are 2 separate programs: for ‘tweens’ in the morning, and ‘teens’ in the afternoon. The Tween and Teen Programs cover similar subject matter while differing in depth and scope. All presentations are pure, light-hearted and affirming!

(Note – ages are suggested – but each parent knows her child best, and which level would be most appropriate – outlines of the 2 programs are below)

* Girls younger than 10 who are already developing and showing signs of puberty are also welcomed to attend.

For more information – contact Ed Hopfner, [email protected]

Tween Program

9:00am – 12:30pm

(for Mothers and their 10 – 12 year old daughters)

This program is very basic and is geared toward the younger girls’ anticipation of the changes that take place at puberty. Most girls will not have started ovulating or having periods, eventhough many of them are experiencing some of the physical and emotional changes.

READ MORE ABOUT THE TWEEN PROGRAM

Teen Program

1:30pm – 5:00pm

(for Mothers and their 13–16 year old daughters)

This is a sweet program to help the girls appreciate their femininity, have some fun, laugh a lot and become comfortable with their changing bodies and personalities. Little girls change into women, even if they would rather not, and all the changes are part of God’s wonderful design of women. The physical changes are preparing the girls’ bodies to be able to be mothers in the future. God wants every new baby to grow inside his mother’s uterus, and He has designed everything about a woman’s body to take care of His babies. The program really helps put the girls and their mothers at ease when discussing these topics!

Online Rosary to Eradicate Human Trafficking – Memorial of St. Josephine Bakhita

6:00pm
Save the date and join us to pray on the feast day of St. Josephine Bakhita. February 8 has been designated as the International Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking.

For this reason on February 8, 2024 at 6 p.m. PST we will be hosting a webinar rosary prayer to invoke Saint Bakhita’s aide in bringing awareness to the evil of Human Trafficking and to  intercede for the victims and survivors of human trafficking.

More details will be shared as we get closer to the date.

Pope Francis highlights in Evangelii Gaudium that human trafficking affects everyone. “How I wish that all of us would hear God’s cry: ‘Where is your brother?’ (Gen 4:9). Where is your brother or sister who is enslaved? Where is the brother and sister whom you are killing each day in clandestine warehouses, in rings of prostitution, in children used for begging, in exploiting undocumented labour? Let us not look the other way. There is greater complicity than we think. The issue involves everyone!” Pope Francis wrote.

Please register below to receive the webinar link. (Please check your spam folder if you do not receive anything.)

El Peligro de la Trata Humana (Charla Virtual)

6:00pm
